The outcome of Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s race for office will have contrasting effects on the world.

Countries such as North Korea and Saudi Arabia prefer Trump, as a win for Joe Biden would mean a critical examination of their military and human rights records, according to NBC. North Koreans in particular are more in favor of Trump as Biden has labeled Kim Jong Un as a “tyrant” and a “thug,” according to the presidential debate. A win for Biden would also mean that the US and North Korea would be negotiating a new nuclear deal.

China on the other hand, which is involved in a costly trade war with the US, would benefit more from Joe Biden taking office. Trump has targeted Chinese tech companies and continues to use racial slurs such as “Chinese Virus” and “Kung Flu” to describe the novel Coronavirus. Meanwhile, Biden has labeled China’s President Xi Jinping as a “thug” according to NBC news.

In Germany, the majority of the population prefer Biden as the president as tensions with Trump and Chancellor Angel Merkel of Germany are poor. “But a Biden administration would have so much repair work to do that I would expect their bandwidth for foreign policy to be quite narrow,” said Constanze Stelenmuller, a German expert at the Brookings Institution, according to NBC.

In the United Kingdom, Keith Martin, a former politician, says he prefers Biden, as there is one thing he fears more than the bladder cancer that almost killed him: the re-election of President Donald Trump, according to the New York Times. He also stated that Trump has harmed millions of people worldwide and electing Biden would be the “right thing” to do regarding world affairs.

The United States presidential election has caused high tensions between several different countries around the world. The elections taking place on November 3, 2020, will determine several different things such as nuclear treaties, trade wars, and international tensions across the globe.
